When something goes wrong

There is no customer service department behind Ausmal Club, just one person – I read every message myself and answer it myself. Most of the time the answer is already down below, though, and then you are finished sooner than I would be. If your question is not there, simply write to me.

About the app

The app will not start, or it will not install

Check the system version first: Ausmal Club needs at least iOS 15 or iPadOS 15.

If the screen stays white after launch, closing the app completely and opening it again almost always helps – on the first start it reads in its catalog of 1,890 pictures, and on older devices that takes a moment.

If that does not help, write to me and name your device and its system version.

What is “For grown-ups”, and why is there a sum in front of it?

Everything a child should not do alone sits behind a sum: the settings, deleting pictures, printing and every purchase.

It is a multiplication with a two-digit answer, asked in words – a four-year-old will not get through it, you will in four seconds. Anyone who mistypes simply gets a new sum: there is no error count, no lockout and nothing that turns red.

What does the app cost, and what is included in the trial?

Ausmal Club is free to download. After that, all the pictures cost 3,99 € a month or 29,99 € a year, and before that come 7 days free to try it out. During the trial everything is open that the subscription contains as well.

The price shown on your device comes from the App Store or from Google Play and applies to your country – the app never works it out itself. Buying happens behind the sum and nowhere else; a child never sees that screen.

What is free, even without a subscription?

Five pictures are free for good: a unicorn, a dinosaur, a tractor, a cat and a rocket. They stay free even when a subscription expires or is cancelled.

And what your child has painted belongs to your child: not a single piece of artwork is ever locked, whatever the state of the subscription. After a cancellation, only the pictures that came with the subscription disappear from the selection again.

I paid, but the pictures are gone. What now?

Open “For grown-ups” and tap “Restore purchases”. The store then checks your account and restores your entitlement. That is also the right way to go if you have reinstalled the app.

If the message “There is no purchase on this store account” appears, the device is signed in to a different store account from the one used for the purchase.

We have a new device – do I have to pay again?

No. The subscription belongs to the store account, not to the device. Sign in on the new device with the same Apple account or Google account, install the app and tap “Restore purchases” in “For grown-ups”. That goes for every device signed in to that account, so the app can run on a phone as well as on a tablet. Only between Apple and Google does a subscription not carry over.

The painted pictures do not travel along – they are held on the old device and nowhere else. Whatever you would like to keep, send to yourself beforehand with “Share as PDF” or put it into Photos.

How do I cancel the subscription?

Through the store, and without any detour via me. In “For grown-ups” the “Manage subscription” button leads straight there; there is no follow-up question and no page in between.

The cancellation has to be made at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, otherwise the subscription renews automatically at the price shown. Everything stays open until the end of the period you have paid for. The direct links are further down under “Manage subscription”.

Does the app need the internet?

No. Ausmal Club is built to work offline: all the pictures are inside the app, there is no account, no sign-in and no server. On a plane, in the cellar and in a dead spot it works exactly as it does at home.

Only the store needs a connection – so when buying, when restoring a purchase and when opening these pages.

How do I print a picture, and how do I get a PDF?

Behind the sum there are four ways: print the blank outline (so that your child colors it in with real pencils), print the finished picture, share it as a PDF – by email, AirDrop or into your files – and save it to Photos.

Printing goes through your device’s print dialog. Whether the layout is calculated for A4 or US Letter is set under “Paper size”; the default follows your country.

If there is no print button on the picture, the “Allow printing” switch in “For grown-ups” is turned off.

The app is in the wrong language – how do I change it?

The “Language” row sits right at the top of “For grown-ups”, so that it can also be found by someone who cannot read the language currently set.

There is a choice of “Follow the device” and five languages: Deutsch, English, Français, Nederlands and Español. The change takes effect at once and everywhere.

Why does the app not say the picture names?

Two possible reasons. First, the “Spoken hints” switch in “For grown-ups” – if it is off, the app stays quiet.

Second, the language: the spoken picture titles exist in German only so far. In another language the fixed announcements are spoken, but the title of a picture is not.

Also check the mute switch and the volume of the device. Incidentally, the app never talks to a speech service: all the announcements are ready-made sound files inside the app.

How do I delete single pictures – or everything?

You delete individual pieces in “For grown-ups” in the “Artwork” section: tap the trash icon, confirm “Really delete?”, done.

You delete everything at once by removing the app from the device – pictures, settings and all the rest go with it, because none of it is held anywhere else. Save whatever matters to you before you do.

About the website

How do I download a coloring page?

Every picture has a page of its own, and on it there is a button that downloads the PDF straight away. No account, no sign-up, no page in between, no counter.

If the download does not start, a pop-up blocker or an ad filter is usually in the way – open the page again in a different browser.

How do I print a picture in good quality?

Take the PDF and not the preview image from the page: the PDF is laid out for printing on A4, the preview image is scaled down for reading on screen.

In the print dialog, choose “Actual size” or “100 %” instead of “Fit to page”, and the margins stay even. Slightly heavier paper – from 120 g/m² upwards – copes much better with felt-tip pens.

May I use the pictures in a nursery or at school?

Yes. Printing them out, copying them and handing them out in the family, in a nursery, an after-school club or a school is expressly allowed and costs nothing.

What is not allowed is selling the pictures, passing them on as a collection, putting them on a site of your own as your own offering, or using them as training material for AI systems.

If you are planning something that is not mentioned here: ask me, I usually say yes.

How do I submit a picture for “Picture of the week”?

Send a photo or a scan to bild@ausmal.club and tell me which coloring page it was and with which first name and age you would like to see it published.

Only someone who holds parental responsibility may submit a picture. I never publish a surname, never a photograph of a child, and nothing that I have not been expressly given permission for.

How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?

At the end of every newsletter there is an unsubscribe link; one click is enough, and no reason is needed.

If you cannot find the email any more, write to me at kontakt@ausmal.club – I will take you off the list.

What advertising and what cookies are there here?

The website measures visits with a self-hosted Matomo that manages without cookies. Beyond that, only strictly necessary cookies are set; there are currently no services that would require your consent. Should anything be added, I would ask you first.

In the app there is no advertising at all, no tracking and no cookies – none of that is provided for there.

Write to me

There is no hold queue behind this address, there is me. I read every message myself and answer as quickly as a job and three children allow – as a rule within two to three days.

Or type it out by hand: kontakt@ausmal.club

This helps me to help you quickly:

  1. Which device (an iPhone 13, an iPad 9th generation or a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, for example)
  2. Which system version (iOS/iPadOS or Android)
  3. Which app version – it is at the bottom of “For grown-ups”
  4. What you did, and what happened as a result
  5. What you would have expected instead – a screenshot is welcome
